It’s no secret that I’m an interiors lover, and like many of us, I’m often updating my home with new decor pieces. My aim is to try and reduce my impact on the planet with what I bring into my home, and so with that in mind, I wanted to share my review of some furniture and decor pieces from Pottery Barn, as they have made some big sustainability commitments. Plus I review the Pottery Barn Cayman Bed and you can see the bed in my guest bedroom.
Pottery Barn has made a serious commitment to sourcing wood responsibly and they are also committing to planting three million new trees in three years. They are doing this by planting a new tree every time a customer buys a piece of indoor wood furniture (that’s furniture that contains at least 80% wood). This year, they have already planted over 650,000 trees, which is the equivalent of taking 94,000 cars off the road!
I choose the Cayman platform bed and matching nightstands for one of our guest bedrooms at the beach house. I love the minimal and clean lines of this set. They are made with mango wood, which I think is great as it has a lot of warmth and texture to it but it still maintains a light and modern feel overall. Sometimes wooden furniture can sit heavily in a space and make it feel smaller, but I think the clean lines and light biscotti finish of the wood used in the Cayman range makes the guest bedroom feel fresh and airy. When I want a room to feel light and airy, like this guest bedroom, I make sure the furniture has clean lines as it means the eye does not get distracted and so it makes the space feel larger than it is. The furniture feels very solid and I think it will last for a very long time.
The nightstands are made from the same mango wood and have a deep drawer at the base. They also come with a hidden power outlet and USB at the back of the open shelf, which I think is so useful, especially in a guest bedroom! I like that the nightstands are compact as all too often nightstands take up a lot of space by a bed, but these have a really nice compact footprint and aren’t too deep, either. They are a great option if you are tight on space or want to ensure your bedroom remains spacious.
I finished off the refresh of this space with Pottery Barn Tencel duvet covers and shams. Tencel is a great option if you are looking for a sustainable bedding choice but also don’t want to compromise on softness or style. Tencel is amazing as it is eco-friendly but super soft to the touch. It also resists wrinkling so requires a lot less ironing, which makes me very happy! It feels very inviting and pillowy soft. The covers also have hidden buttons which is a smart design choice. Plus, I hate when you can feel the buttons whilst lying in bed!
